The Comparison
Cala Luna: By Boat, With the Cave, or On Foot
The four ways to the beach from Cala Gonone, what each costs, how long you get there, and when the boats run.
Cala Luna is the closest of the big Gulf of Orosei beaches to Cala Gonone: about 30 minutes by boat, or about 90 minutes on foot along the coast from Cala Fuili. The half-day to book combines it with the Bue Marino sea cave next door. The Cala Gonone boat consortium’s Grotta Bue Marino & Cala Luna Beach Boat Trip takes four hours: the boat to the cave, an hour’s guided visit with the ticket included, then about three hours on the beach. It costs from €35 a person (checked October 2026), rated 4.2 from 883 reviews, plus €2.50 in cash for the Cala Luna beach fee.

Prices and dates from GetYourGuide, checked October 2026. The €2.50 Cala Luna beach fee is extra on every boat.
The cave and the beach together is the best value of the three boats if you want the cave at all: the cave ticket on its own costs €10.50 for an adult in October and €12.50 from June to September (2026 prices), and this half-day includes it. It is a large-boat trip, rated 4.2; if you do not care about the cave, the beach-only boats are simpler.
The plain beach boat suits a lazy day: the consortium’s boat ride to Cala Luna, or Agostino Charter’s cheaper water taxi at €15, with a long stop on the sand.
Walking in is free and is the classic coastal path from the car park at Cala Fuili, south of Cala Gonone, about 90 minutes with ups and downs along the coast. It is a real hike in summer heat; carry plenty of water.
Check dates for the cave and Cala Luna
Is Cala Luna worth it?
Yes, as a beach day, and more so with the cave. It is a long beach under a limestone cliff, with a line of caves at the back and clear water in front, and it is the one big cove of this coast you can reach in half a day from Cala Gonone. It is not a quiet beach in summer: most of the day boats from Cala Gonone stop here, and the consortium applies a landing fee and a time limit on the beach in high season. Go early, or in May, June or September, if you want space.
When the boats run
The consortium’s summer timetable to Cala Luna runs from June to September; in April, May and October there are fewer departures, and its 2026 season runs from 27 March to 31 October. The cave is visited every day from Easter to All Saints (1 November). When we checked on 26 October 2026, all three Cala Luna boats still had dates on 27 October. For 2027, plan on the first boats from Easter, 28 March 2027.
A longer day instead
If you want Cala Luna as one stop of several, the full-day boats from Cala Gonone land at three coves, usually Cala Luna, Cala Mariolu and Cala Sisine, and stop off Cala Goloritzé: see the Cala Goloritzé boat trip and the Gulf of Orosei by dinghy. Those day trips do not include the Bue Marino cave ticket; the cave tickets guide explains how to add it.
How these facts were checked
Written 26 October 2026. The Cala Luna crossing time, the walking time from Cala Fuili, the summer timetable months, the landing fee and the beach time limit are from the Cala Gonone boat consortium (Nuovo Consorzio Trasporti Marittimi) and Sardegna Turismo; the 2026 season dates and the cave ticket prices are from the consortium’s 2026 tariff sheet and the Comune di Dorgali. Prices, ratings, review counts, durations, inclusions and next dates are from the GetYourGuide listings, checked 25 and 26 October 2026. Prices and departures change with the season, so check the live calendar before you plan around a figure.
The Bue Marino Cave and Cala Luna, One Ticket

Cala Luna Boat Trip FAQ
What people ask before taking the boat to Cala Luna and the Bue Marino cave.
By boat from Cala Gonone harbour, about 30 minutes, or on foot along the coast from Cala Fuili, about 90 minutes each way. Boats run from spring to the end of October, with the full timetable from June to September. A plain boat to the beach costs from about €15 to €30 a person, and the half-day that adds the Bue Marino cave from about €35 (October 2026). Every boat adds a €2.50 beach fee in cash.
Yes. The coastal path starts at the car park at Cala Fuili, a short drive south of Cala Gonone, and takes about 90 minutes each way, with ups and downs along the coast. It is a proper hike: wear walking shoes and carry water, especially in summer. Cala Gonone to Cala Fuili adds the road at the start.
Yes, for a beach day: a long beach under a limestone cliff with a line of caves, and clear water, half an hour from Cala Gonone. It is busy in summer, when most day boats stop here and the boat consortium applies a landing fee and a time limit on the beach. Combine it with the Bue Marino cave if you want more than the sand, or make it one stop of a full day along the gulf.
Only the combined half-day does: the consortium's Bue Marino and Cala Luna trip includes the cave ticket and the guided visit, from about €35 (October 2026). The plain Cala Luna boats do not stop at the cave, and the full-day boat trips to Cala Goloritzé exclude the cave ticket. On its own, the cave costs €10.50 for an adult in spring and autumn and €12.50 from June to September (2026 prices), boat not included.
About three hours on the combined cave and beach trip, and a similar long stop on the beach boats. The consortium's half-day is about four hours in all: 20 minutes to the cave, an hour inside, ten minutes to Cala Luna, about three hours on the beach and 30 minutes back. In summer the consortium limits how long you can stay on the beach.
Yes: €2.50 a person, paid in cash before the boat leaves. It is the municipal beach access ticket, and it is not included in any of the boat prices.
The Cala Gonone boat consortium's 2026 season ran from 27 March to 31 October, with the full timetable from June to September and fewer boats in April, May and October. When we checked on 26 October 2026, all three Cala Luna boats compared here still had dates on 27 October. For 2027, plan on the first boats around Easter, 28 March 2027.
Yes, as one stop of a full day: the gulf cruises that leave from La Caletta and Orosei in the north, and from Arbatax in the south, also stop at Cala Luna. For a short trip, Cala Gonone is the harbour to use: the boats to Cala Luna only take about 30 minutes from there.
