Cala Goloritzé Hike: Booking, the Trail and the Boat Option
The Cala Goloritzé hike from Su Porteddu: the 2026 booking rules (€7, 250 at a time), 3.5 km and 2 hours back up, and when the boat is the better way.
To stand on the beach at Cala Goloritzé you have to walk: boats may not land there, and the only way down is the trail from Su Porteddu on the Golgo plateau above Baunei, about 3.5 km with about 470 to 500 m of climb, about 1 hour 30 minutes down and 2 hours back up. In 2026 that walk needed a €7 ticket booked on the municipal portal, heartofsardinia.com, with 250 people allowed at one time. If you would rather see the arch than earn it, a boat from Cala Gonone or the southern harbours stops offshore so you can swim below it, and the climb out never happens.
Pick the way in that suits you:

The 2026 booking rules
Cala Goloritzé is in the territory of Baunei, and the Comune di Baunei sets the access rules each year. The 2026 regime runs from 24 March to 15 November 2026:
- 250 people at one time.
- Booking online only, on heartofsardinia.com or its app. Tickets for a day open three days before, at midnight.
- €7 a person, non-refundable. Children up to and including age 5 and Baunei residents go free, but must still be declared in the booking.
As of 26 October 2026 no rules for 2027 have been published. The 2026 regime is the best guide to what to expect, but check the portal before you plan a spring 2027 walk. Because the ticket is non-refundable, look at the forecast for your day before you book; the three-day window helps.

Where the trail starts, and how long it takes
The starting point is Su Porteddu, on the Golgo plateau, reached by the road that climbs from Baunei onto the tableland. From there the path drops about 3.5 km down the valley to the cove, with about 470 to 500 m of height difference. Allow about 1 hour 30 minutes down and about 2 hours back up: the return is the hard part, a steady climb at the end of a day in the sun. Carry more water than you think, wear proper shoes, and start early. The Comune di Baunei’s tourist office gives the trail as open from 7:30 and closed to new walkers at 14:00, with the beach open until 17:00; the Heart of Sardinia booking portal shows a single 7:30 to 16:00 slot. Both ask you to reach the trailhead by 10:00, so plan on that and leave yourself daylight for the climb.
At the bottom is a small pebble beach below a white limestone arch, with the tall limestone spire, the Guglia di Goloritzé, standing beside it. Bring the food and water you need for the day down with you.

Seeing Goloritzé by sea
No boat lands at Goloritzé. They keep their distance offshore, so what a boat trip gives you is the arch from the water and a swim from the boat. On the Agostino Charter dinghy from Cala Gonone, Dinghy excursion to Cala Mariolu and Cala Goloritzé (Agostino Charter srl), the Goloritzé stop is a 30-minute swim, and the day includes three beach stops elsewhere on the coast. The bigger boats, such as the Gulf of Orosei cruise with Cala Goloritzé (Nuovo Consorzio Trasporti Marittimi), stop near the restricted area for photos instead. The Cala Goloritzé boat trip guide compares them all.
From the south, Escursì’s RIB tour from Arbatax (Escursì) is the short version at 3 hours, and east coast sardinia excursion’s guided cruise from Santa Maria Navarrese (east coast sardinia excursion srl) is a full 8-hour day. Two more leave from Santa Maria Navarrese: the Goloritzé, Mariolu and Biriala cruise (Sardinia Natural Park Tours) and the Goloritzé and Mariolu boat tour (Tortuga Beach), which anchors at Goloritzé for about 20 minutes of swimming from the dinghy.

With a guide
If you want company on the trail, the Cala Goloritzè trekking tour with a guide, from Baunei is listed from €83.50 (checked October 2026) with only 4 reviews, so ask before booking whether the €7 portal ticket is included.
Where to stay for the hike
Santa Maria Navarrese, on the coast below Baunei, is the closest base for the drive up to Su Porteddu, and it is where the southern Goloritzé boats leave from. See hotels in Santa Maria Navarrese. If you are also here for the gorge, the guide to where to stay weighs Cala Gonone against Dorgali, and the Gorropu Canyon home page covers the canyon itself.
The end of the 2026 season, and spring 2027
The 2026 hike regime runs to 15 November 2026, so the portal is still the way in for the last weeks of autumn. On 26 October 2026 the Agostino Charter dinghy, the Escursì RIB and the Tortuga Beach and Sardinia Natural Park Tours boats still showed departures from 27 October 2026, and the east coast sardinia excursion cruise from 29 October 2026. The Cala Gonone boat consortium’s 2026 season ends on 31 October 2026 and restarts from Easter, 28 March 2027. For the 2027 walk, watch heartofsardinia.com for the new rules.
